Tore Hattrem, State Secretary of the Norwegian Foreign Affairs Ministry, arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake today on a two-day official visit to Sri Lanka.
The State Secretary will meet Foreign Affairs Minister Mangala Samaraweera.
State Secretary Hattrem was also scheduled to meet Opposition Leader R. Sampanthan, Minister for development Strategies and International Trade Malik Samarawickrama, Minister for Urban Development, Water Supply and Drainage Rauff Hakeem and the Secretary General of the Secretariat for Reconciliation Mechanisms Mano Tittawella.
He will visit Jaffna on 1st June where he will meet Northern Province Governor Reginald Cooray and Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran.

What these rich countries should be doing is to provide market access to Sri Lankan products at concessionary tax rate in their countries. Also, they should provide platforms to sell SL products to their citizens. By doing that Sri Lankan businesses can boom and with that, so does the SL economy. It is pointless to provide millions of Euros' worth of loans or grants as it would only repeat the vicious cycle of poverty,
