While saying there is no political motive behind the arrest of MP Patali Champika Ranwaka, Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) Leader Udaya Gammanpila today pointed out that there was no violation of the law in the process of arresting him.
He told a news briefing that Mr. Ranwaka was very annoyed and perplexed at the time of his arrest with the MP claiming it was a forcible and illegal arrest.
“The arrest of the relevant MP was carried on the orders of the Attorney General. However, Mr. Ranwaka alleged that the Magistrate was unaware of his arrest,” Mr. Gammanpila said. “There is no issue about not informing the Magistrate because the Attorney General is superior to the Magistrate.”
Referring to Patali Champika’s remark that the Speaker was not informed of the arrest, Mr. Gammanpila said there was no need to inform the Speaker in situations of this nature. (Sheain Fernandopullle)

All he has to do is contract the eye witness who says he was the driver. If his driver says otherwise then he has some questions to be answered.

I can only laugh at what Gamanpila says. The Government can do lot of things. But their top priority is to take revenge. I thought the President is a very sensible person after what he did during his brothers regime. Why can they find the killers of Lansantha first.

Why there's always politicians come and give their opinion. This applies to both major parties. Why not Police or AJ's office give the reasons to the arrest.
