New Head of the National Movement for Social Justice, former Speaker Karu Jayasuriya yesterday said he has no plans to form a political party affiliated to the movement founded by the Late Maduluwawe Sobitha Thera into a political party.
Mr. Jayasuriya said in a statement that the National Movement for Social Justice will be continued as a movement which is committed towards ensuring justice, safeguarding the rights of the people and creating a just society.
“Media reports which said I am trying to form a new political party is false. I have no intention of getting into active politics,” he said.
“National Movement for Social Justice has no intention of capturing state power,” he added. (Yohan Perera)
