NPC approves transfer of SSP Shani Abeysekera

The National Police Commission (NPC) today approved a request made by Acting IGP Chandana Wickremeratne to transfer Criminal Investigation Division (CID) Director SSP Shani Abeysekera.

NPC Secretary Nishantha Weerasinghe told the Daily Mirror that the request was made to transfer the SSP as the personal assistant to the Southern DIG.

This particular Police Officer attached to the CID is outstanding in every aspect, he undertook so many inquiries into various crimes connected to Rajapaksas or his associates. This shows the National Police Commission is not fit for purpose. Why is everyone keeping quiet ? I think white vans will roll out soon.

Is this the same NPC which once had a strong back bone to stand against politically motivated transfers of Police Officers, cancel them and do the right thing?
