The northeast monsoon conditions were establishing gradually and would bring more showers particularly in the districts northeast of the island in the coming days, the Department of Meteorology said today.
“Showers about 150 mm were forecasted in some places in Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Ampara, Moneragala, Badulla and the Polonnaruwa districts.
“Heavy showers about 100mm were likely in places in Mullaithivu, Vavuniya, Anuradhapura, Ratnapura, Kegalle, Kalutara, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, Matara, Mannar and the Gampaha districts.
“Wind speed is expected to increase up to 40-50 kmph at times in central hilly areas, Northern, North-central and North-western provinces and in Trincomalee District,” the weatherman said.
