Muslims have become reluctant to go to hospital as they are being cremated if they succumb to COVID-19, MP Rishad Bathiudeen told Parliament today.

"Muslims are scared to go to hospital as they are afraid that they will be cremated if they succumb to COVID-19," Mr. Bathiudeen said.

"Some Government MPs are misinterpreting the holy Quran saying it has not forbidden cremation. One has to read the Quran in an honest manner to understand the truth," he added.

"Muslims have got saddened, as an infant who succumbed to COVID-19 last Saturday has been cremated," he also said.

Also he said Muslim businessmen have been affected by the isolation of Muslim areas including Kattankudy.(Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)

What a foolish thinking! They would get cremated much sooner if they don't get medical attention after infected with virus. On top of that, because of their pathetic and selfish behavior, they put the whole community safety in danger.

its the bitter truth, but muslims should also know to cooperate leaving religious belief aside for the sake to eradicate the spread of this pandemic.

He is playing the race card . Isolation impacts everyone not just one group. He is portraying it as they are the only ones impacted.

Well, if people hide their Covid status, it will spread, and death toll will rise!

    All communities afraid.

First victory to the government. The actions by government making all the minorities to live in fear during their life and after death.

This government will do everything to divide our community. Using Muslims as scapegoats for their own failing Covid 19 approach

All we and Muslims want is to bury our loved ones. Nothing else, because we understand we can not perform our rites

Stay at home, "Home quarantine" is the best option. Don't come out stay within your own confine. Very good for the country and it is a wise advice.

Why is the government of GR is so adamant on this issue. Try to please the minority masses since it has ample proof and positives on the burial issue. One year has passed and still the hearts are hard on this burial. Forget what has been done and now soften the hearts OH I appeal to the government of GR again and again.

Some of your Muslim followers are ignorant and stupid. If they don’t go to hospital, they will surely infect other innocent law-abiding people, get fined (when found) by the Government and then die. They should go to Saudi Arabia (when they contract the virus, or preferably before they contract the virus) and die and then get buried. Saudi has plenty of land and provide a short cut to meet their maker (PBUA).

The reason for death in the good old days prior to COVID 19 was "death due to cardiac arrest".Now it is COVID 19????......... Good side of COVID 19????
