Mohammed Thajudeen Mohammed Shaul Hameed alias 'Savanna', a gangster wanted for several murders and crimes, was arrested with 5.6 grammes of heroin by the STF in Maligawatta today.
Investigations revealed that the suspect was involved with the criminal groups of Ayubkhan, Digafizar, Anamalu Imitiaz and Kulipal Imitiaz.
According to the STF, the suspect was allegedly involved in the murders of Sanmugam Sundara Raja and Thayaga Raja Wasantha in Colombo, the murder of Mohamed Farook Mohamed Siddik alias 'Idi' at Keselwatta, the murder of Don Samitha Dilhara at Keselwatte, and murder of Abdul Hameer Mohamed Inami at Pettah, all which took place in 2001.
He is also linked to the murder of Ananda Jayathissa in Grandpass in 2005.
The suspect was also involved in the cases of possessing a firearm and a hand grenade in Maligawatta in 2001 and kidnapping an individual and robbing Rs.21,000 at Slave Island in 2003.
The suspect was handed over to the Maligawatta Police.
The raid was conducted based on intelligence information received by an STF team led by CI Nadeeka Silva on the instruction of the STF Commandant.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)

He was invilved in crimes and mursers since 2001. Now we are giing in 2020. Only now we manage to arrest this criminal? I believ he shoud have been sentended and locked uo somewhere about 15 years ago. Our laes are so iut dated we better amend and adjust ti suit the present day requirements
