A video which shows a drunken local man verbally harassing a foreign couple during the cricket match between Sri Lanka and West Indies held at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium, Hambantota, has gone viral on social media.

Speaking to Daily Mirror, Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said that he had informed the Ministry Secretary to send the video to the IGP requesting him to carry out an investigation into the incident.

Such people are a disaster for the country so the foreigner should be allowed to put an end to the resentment of the foreign master and use this stupid man's back as compensation.

He may be drunk but it’s also illegal in Sri Lanka to drape the national flag around the body. He should have told the police. But then again nothing would happen.

This is very bad behavior of the man and it is a shame that other Sri Lankans allowed such behavior. They should have brought this to the notice of the Security personnel in the venue. Every Sri Lankan is an ambassador of their country and our image is tarnished with such behavior.

Pathetic beggar primitive uncivilised Buddhist Sri Lanka behaving as what is expected of primitive people. Then these primitive people want to come to the civilised west and also beg the civilised west for money

A statement from the foreign couple (affidavit ) and if possible an audio clip will help.Once the person is identified he should be arrested charged and produced before courts .Investigations should be done immediately and action taken should be given wide publicity .Also strict check should be done by the cricket Board on the consumption of hard liquor in the grounds

The culprit should be punished severely, since he tarnished the image of mother Lanka. Looking at this the guy has no clue how much foreign exchange Sri Lanka earns from tourism and how many families depend.

Some concern citizen should have called the 911 police instead watching and video taping. This harassment is not good image for Srilanka.....

This man's behaviour is the absolute polar opposite of what Buddhism is. Would Buddha act his way? Every Buddhist sitting there doing nothing must be ashamed. Would Buddha have sat there doing nothing? Every Buddhist in the country must be ashamed for allowing a culture of such apathy, impunity, unkindness, and disrespect for fellow human being to develop in our country. Would Buddha have sat by and allowed such a culture to develop? Is it logical for 'Buddhists' to do the exact opposite of what Buddha taught, and wonder why the world doesn't respect them? Stop doing lip service to Buddhism, and please step up to the high level of development required to be Buddhists. It takes a huge amount of courage, compassion, training and hard work to be a Buddhist. If you can't take the effort, don't hate others for not respecting you as a Buddhist.
