Melsta Hospitals Ragama has been closed after its General Manager (GM), who had conducted lectures at the Kandakadu Rehabilitation Centre, was tested positive for COVID-19, police said.
In the wake of the detection of COVID-19 cases at Kandakadu, 32 lecturers including the private hospital's GM have been sent to the quarantine centre operated by the Army at the Monkey Bridge Camp.
The lecturers were subjected to PCR tests on Monday and the private hospital’s GM who was tested positive was admitted to the Kattankudy Hospital.
Police said PCR tests on 85 staff members and 14 in-house patients at the private hospital would be conducted today. (P. H. P. Perera)
