Dharmasiri Perera, the main suspect in the murder of Ranjan de Silva, the father of Sri Lankan cricketer Dananjaya de Silva, has been arrested in Abu Dhabi, police said.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said that the suspect was arrested on November 29.
On May 24, 2018, Ranjan de Silva who was a member of the Dehiwala Mount Lavinia Municipal Council was shot dead.
The Spokesman said three suspects have been arrested earlier in connection with the murder. " However, the main suspect fled the country to the United Arab Emirates. Following his escape, special investigations were carried out. Accordingly, we obtained a warrant from the court and made a request to the Interpol in this regard,"he said.
Accordingly, the Interpol has issued a red notice in response to the request, he said.
DIG Rohana said the Abu Dhabi Police in the United Arab Emirates have arrested the suspect and they informed the police branch in Colombo to action against him in accordance with the extradition law.

At the same time, murder suspect of Lasantha Wickramatunga is freely out there without any consequences. Does it means the suspect is protect for political purpose? We need justice to Lasantha's murder case.
