Liquor shops to be closed on April 13, 14

All retail liquor outlets except licensed hotels and tourists’ boutiques will be closed on April 13th & 14th in view of the Sinhala and Hindu New Year, the Excise Department said.

    Stupid idea. What this does is that the alcoholics stock up and drink themselves to death or bash up their families before the new year. I suppose it's one way of filling up Johnny boys coffers?

    This is a very good move namely if not effectively. It would be the responsibility of law enforcers to curb the illegal liquor transactions. This restriction should be supported by maximum allowance for transporting liquor at a time.
