The MPs of the Joint Opposition today dashed some 100,000 coconuts at the Seenigama Devalaya against the Financial Crime Investigations Division (FCID).
MPs Dinesh Gunawardene, Bandula Gunawardane and Kumara Welgama were among those attended the event.
Meanwhile, it was reported that an investigation had been launched by the Police into an incident where a load of coconuts were stolen from a state plantation in Galle to be used at the coconut dashing event.

Money laundering, abuse of power is fine but catching them is not?, disgrace and shameful. Sad day indeed to see lawmakers acting this way for cheap political gain.

FCID should now investigate as to who and how much was paid for 100,000 coconuts.

Well, breaking coconuts is a South Indian Hindu custom which came in as a replacement for animal sacrifice. It is not meant to curse some one or spread anger. These people have an opportunity to prove their innocence in a court of law. Grow up buddies.

Well said Premalal, Where there is Dharma and the Dharma will win. No need to break 100,000 coconuts - should have given to the poor people.
Rohini Saturday, 06 February 2016 02:14 PM
So stupid, foolish....thank god they are not ruling the country now. Even the coconuts that they are dashing are stolen. I wonder who the god they are praying to ?

Coconuts should have been dashed when SF was imprisoned. All crooks of the past must be worried.
Dilan Saturday, 06 February 2016 02:08 PM
So they are cursing the officers at the FCID for doing their job but praise family that stole the countries money?
Yapa Saturday, 06 February 2016 01:52 PM
Worth Agri products wasted for spreading hatred.
Premalal Saturday, 06 February 2016 01:44 PM
If they do this to invoke divine intervention then who ever the god they invoke can only strengthen the FCID against crooks because any god should be on the side of justice.

Destroying 100,000 coconuts is a crime itself, arrest these guys
Bala Saturday, 06 February 2016 01:41 PM
In this day and age, these clowns still think they can sway the gods to help them - gods may likely punish them for their crimes if such is possible.
