The joint opposition (JO) today said that they would file a Fundamental Rights (FR) petition over the police attack that took place in Hambantota during a protest conducted by them on Friday (6).

JO parliamentarian Sisira Jayakody told a press briefing that it would also lodge a separate complaint to the excessive use of force used by the police personnel at the protest organised by the JO. (Thilanka Kanakarathna)

Oh bhoy... The Police was doing their job... The JO broke the Law by going against a Court Order, right??? The Police should have used rubber bullets instead or live ones like what was used when a village wanted clean drinking water....

This protest was illegal as police took an enjoying order . So first of all police must take into custody who lead this protest. They are the main culprits .

JO is deceitful. It should let the public know its true stand on the handover of the MRIA to an Indian company

Whatever it is, the Police can not attack someone who is in their custody...

IN MY OPINION, WHAT THAT POLICE OFFICER DID WAS CORRECT. BUT HE SHOULDN'T HAVE DONE IT IN OPEN PUBLIC. THESE FELLOWS MUST BE PUNISHED THOROUGHLY, WHERE ARE NO JOURNALISTS. FURTHERMORE, THE LEADERS WHO INSTIGATED THESE RIOTS MUST BE PUNISHED FIRST OF ALL. THAT IS CALLED AIDING AND ABETTING .

JO to file a Fundamental Rights petition over the Police attack??? Biggest joke of the century. JO guys must be suffering from dementia. Seriously, are they going to wear any cloths when they are going to hand over the petition?
