Five university students were admitted to General Hospital, Colombo during a protest at Kollupitiya Junction staged by the Inter University Students’ Federation (IUSF) against the controversial private medical campus South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) in Malabe.
Police fired tear gas and used water cannons, on multiple occasions, to disperse the protest. (Piyumi Fonseka)

Valuable experience for when they carry out protest marches demanding government jobs.

No one has the right to education of another, it's a basic human right, so let SAITM continue and let such private medical schools open in the country, IUSF fellows are a set of frogs in the well

Should cancel their 100% scholarships if they aren't making use of it. Sri Lanka is the only country in the world that keeps on spending for scholars even if they don't pass their academic exams as they can resit a number of times as long as they complete the 4 year degree within 7 years. For 3 years they can afford to waste public funds

These guys are trying to win public support through inconveniencing the public. University administration should be ordered to be very strict on their attendance for studies. They do not study despite it's given free to them at the expense of general public, and they don't want others to study even if they are paying out of their own pockets. What a joke!!!
