A private jet that was on its way to Hong Kong made an emergency landing at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake today.
Eleven people including two pilots were onboard the jet, the airport duty manager said.
The gulfstream Learjet type aircraft had left for Hong Kong from the BIA at 9.42 am but returned around 12.40 pm after detecting the technical fault in the tyre system.
The pilot had taken measures to dump the fuel to the sea before making the successful landing while the airport authorities had assembled fire-trucks and ambulances as a precautionary measure. (T.K.G. Kapila)
