Former Eastern Province Governor M. L. A. M. Hizbullah and former Parliamentarian M. K. Sivajilingam had placed deposits to contest the Presidential Election 2019.
The Elections Commission said that eight candidates had placed cash deposits today.
The submission of deposits for the presidential election concluded at 12 noon today (06) and a total of 41 candidates have deposited cash payments for the election.
It was reported that this is the highest number of candidates who have placed a cash deposit for a presidential election so far.
