Heroin haul: 16 suspects further remanded

The 16 suspects who were arrested in connection with the largest ever heroin haul in the southern seas were further remanded till May 3 by the Colombo Fort Magistrate today.

Ten Iranians, one Pakistan national, one Singaporean, one Indian and three Sri Lankans were among the suspects who were arrested with 101 kg of heroin.

The Magistrate allowed the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) to record statements from the suspects while in prison custody. (Shehan Chamika Silva)
