Department of Meteorology forecast fairly heavy rains, exceeding more than 100 mm in the next few days.
Rains were forecast at some places in Sabaragamuwa, Western and Central Provinces and in Galle and Matara Districts. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere after 2.00 pm. Fairly strong winds up to 40 km/h were also forecast over North-Western, Northern and Southern Provinces.
The highest rainfall of 77mm was recorded in Avissawella yesterday while rainfall of 11mm and 8.8mm were recorded from Trincomalee and Mannar respectively. (Yohan Perera)
