In the wake of the discovery of a fast spreading new strain of Coronavirus in certain countries, the Government has decided to continue with the existing procedure of obtaining prior approval from the Foreign Ministry and the Civil Aviation Authority for all inbound travellers to Sri Lanka.
The Foreign Ministry said that the revised guidelines on repatriation will be issued once the situation has been reappraised.

Sri Lanka must be the only country that did not repatriate all people yet.

This small country cannot risk the safety of many millions for the sake of a couple of hundred thousand who are simply stranded and looked after to some extent in the countries where are stranded.
