Discussions are underway on the possibility of receiving 500 to 600 expatriates into the country from overseas on a daily basis, and the conduct of PCR tests and the quarantine process, Army Commander Shavendra Silva said.
The repatriation of Sri Lankans stranded overseas resumed from November 16, which was suspended after the emergence of the second COVID-19 wave in the country, early October.
Currently, Sri Lanka brings less than 250 expatriates to the island each day. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

The people holding return tickets should have been allowed to return to Sri Lanka before the airport was closed. Now that the airport is planning to allow them to return you must allow the airlines that they were using to land in Sri Lanka, anything else is not good ethics

They are not expatriate but they are Sri LanKan stranded labour migrants abroad.

What about allowing non residents who have elderly parents and are unable to visit them in this difficult times. Please allow us to fly into Sri Lanka
