UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe had told some party activists that his role as the head of the party would come to an end once he unites all factions of the party.
Party sources said Mr. Wickremesinghe had told this to a group of lawyers at party headquarters Sirikotha recently.
“All should work towards the making the UNP victorious in future elections once he unites all fractions,” Mr. Wickremesinghe had told the lawyers.
The lawyers had then told Mr. Wickremesinghe some MPs are coming up with foolish statements. They have quoted some MPs who had been saying that they are working according to the will of the people.
These lawyers have been of the opinion that if the MPs are working in accordance with the people’s will, they should be working for President Gotabaya Rajapaksa as the people had given a mandate for him to rule the nation.
Meanwhile, it was reported that a UNP-led new alliance will be formed during the first week of January next year. Party sources said discussions with several political parties, civil organisations and even media associations have already begun dialogues with regards to the alliance. (Yohan Perera)

Ranil please go away, without being dragged out. You should contest from Kaluthara not Colombo as you need to get the pulse of the people.

With all due respect to Ranil, he must now resign gracefully and hand over to either Karu or Sajith. If not he and his gang is doing another favour to Gota and MR at the elections.
