Former senior DIG Lalith Jayasinghe, remanded on charges of allowing a suspect arrested in connection with Vidya’s rape and killing to escape from police custody, was re-remanded till September 11 by the Kayts Acting Magistrate today.
The DIG is alleged to have allowed the main suspect Swiss Kumar to escape from police custody.
Vidya was abducted, gang-raped and killed at Punkuduthivu in Jaffna on May 2015. (Romesh Madusanka)

How was he promoted to the post of DIG . Most of the DIGs seem to have been ironically culprits by degrading the already degraded police force by Rajapakesa regime in order to have their illegal ,immoral bidding carried out .
