Eight COVID-19 patients were identified today increasing the number of confirmed cases to 596, Health Service Director General Dr. Anil Jasinghe said. He said five of the eight patients were Navy personnel and the three others were reported from the Punani Quarantine Centre.

The government can use the hotels in the area for the defense department officials and heath care workers, who are on vacation instead of sending them home where there's a high risk of carrying the infection while on vacation to the community.
