The CID will record statements from former Ministers Rishad Bathiudeen and Rauff Hakeem over the Easter Sunday attacks, Deputy Solicitor General (DSG) Dlieepa Peiris informed the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court today.
“Thus far, the CID has recorded statements from Cabinet Secretary Sumith Abeysinghe, DIG Champika Siriwardena and former DIG Saman Yatawara. Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith will provide his statement after Christmas," he said.
When the case was taken up before Colombo Additional Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage, the DSG informed that it was vital to record statements from former President Maithripala Sirisena, former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Speaker Karu Jayasuriya as well.
He said their failure to provide dates before the next hearing to record statements on the matter would prompt legal action against them. (Yoshitha Perera)
