EC assures COVID-19 will not spread from polling centres

Elections Commission (EC) Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya yesterday assured that COVID-19 virus would not be spread through polling centres during the upcoming general election.

He told media that he could assure the people that no COVID-19 spread would occur when the health guidelines as gazetted by the Health Ministry were adhered properly.

Mr. Deshapriya said Medical Officers of Health (MOHs), Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) and other health officers were dedicated to ensure this. 

Moreover, he said disinfection process of polling centres were being carried out smoothly by relevant authorities. (By Thisari Walawege)
