The Estate Sector people in Sri Lanka would like to see Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe becoming President in this country in 2020 and would like to back him as a presidential candidate at the next Presidential Election, Minister of Estate Villages P. Thigambaram said today.
Minister Thigambaram said this at the opening of Indian-funded Mahatma Gandhi Puram Housing scheme in Nuwara Eliya last afternoon.
“Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe who visited Talawakele during the Presidential Election in 2015 and pledged that estate sector people would be given lands of their own. That pledge has been fulfilled today and we will not forget Mr Wickremesinghe,” the Minister said.
“We would also like to see Mr Wickremesinghe contesting the next Presidential Election and becoming the President of this country,” he said. (Yohan Perera reporting from Nuwara Eliya)
