A 28-year-old woman who tested positive for Covid-19 has reportedly misled staff of the Nagoda Hospital in Kalutara to admit herself for the delivery of her child, official said adding that ward staff who attended to the woman will have to undergo self-quarantine.
The woman, a resident of Pannila, Beruwala, an area which is on red-alert following the discovery of a coronavirus cluster, has been admitted to the Nagoda hospital where she has given birth to a child this morning. The woman who had submitted a false address for hospital records, had been granted admission to a special ward for the delivery, according to the Beruwala Medical Health Officer Dr. Varuna Seneviratne.
However medical staff had soon discovered that the patient was a resident of Beruwala, according to her clinical records. She had misled staff of the Nagoda hospital and submitted false details stating that she was a resident of Dharga Town.
A hospital spokesperson said that a blood test revealed that she had been infected with the coronavirus. The health of her infant is being monitored while the ward staff who attended to the woman will have to undergo self-quarantine, according to hospital sources.
With this new case the total number of active Covid-19 cases reported from Beruwala has risen to 13, according to Dr. Varuna Seneviratne.

Sri Lankan medias and the people started looking at Covid19 patients in a very wrong way. They forgot to treat the people with kindness. Sri Lankans always show warm gesture to foreigners and to animals not for their country citizens. These hide and seek, false information are result of your own gestures. Grow up people.

We need to close the madrassa that these people attended as young. Looks like they never teach human values. All these foreign preachers should be kicked out and all madrassa closed and all the older people re-educated about responsibilities and duties of being citizens of a country. Where are the so called Muslim Politicians? Where are the values in your community? Is lying and Cheating one of the????

It is very concerning that Sri Lankans disregard rules as serious as the ones broken by this family. I hope there are adequate penalties for this, to prevent others acting similarly.

@Suren, and open more institutions that produce people like the BBS, yeah? Every religion has good and bad people, I assume being racist falls under the second category as well! Get your facts right before blaming a community.

@ Suren Fernando. First of all what she did was wrong despite of any religion or person. However, that comment of yours clearly highlights a lot about your character. 1)Where does it say that the patient is a muslim? 2) If she was a muslim where does it say she attended madrasas conducted by foreign nationals. Always understand never a religion teaches hatred. If hatred is thought by these madrasas they can’t be called as madrasas and hatred doesn’t house in any religion. Till hatred is removed from your hearts you will never see anyone with respect. I request you to treat everyone with respect and kindness specially in times where everyone has to stand united without pouring fuel into a burning fire.
