Covid-19 patient escaped from Punani apprehended in Pelpitiya

The 43-year-old Covid-19 patient who had escaped from the Punani treatment center last night has been arrested by a special police team at Pelpitiya in Eheliyagoda a short while ago, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.

He said health authorities and the police are taking actions to send him back to a treatment center.

However, police are conducting further investigation to ascertain the transport mode of the patient who arrived at Pelpitiya from Punani, he said.

The spokesman said stern action would be taken against the patient after his treatment period.
