President should be thinking that him taking over the leadership of SLFP was his worst mistake. While he appoints committees, prorogues parliament, frequently travels abroad, seems to undermine Ranil's government, spends time on his party politics etc, the country's economy, well being, discipline and democracy may be getting significantly damaged.

He's going from stupid to dumb to clown. Who cares about party? It's the COUNTRY BEFORE SELF

    Gamaya Monday, 16 April 2018 08:37 AM

Pity, the President cannt read and understand these comments and the PM seems to be in his own wonderland! The 6.2 million of us are left in the lurch.

    Sunil Saturday, 14 April 2018 03:38 PM

    Oh dear! Another committee.

    gayan Saturday, 14 April 2018 07:05 PM

better these idiots get out of the government

    Gamaya Saturday, 14 April 2018 07:40 PM

Aney Siri mahaththayo monawa karanawada? Please let the UNP govern.

    Sincere Saturday, 14 April 2018 07:58 PM

After 3 years? A new committee? For what?Aren't the members of the Committee the same people who mismanaged for 3 years? For an example how many millions people have paid for the Rajagiriya empty building? So what can we expect of them in the balance 2 yrs? Who is deceiving whom?

    Sihab Saturday, 14 April 2018 08:22 PM

    Ayyo Sirisena.

    Sim Saturday, 14 April 2018 08:24 PM

Once a President is elected, HE should not involve himself with the party

    Ralahamy Saturday, 14 April 2018 11:02 PM

He can take a lesson from the USA politics. A President has no time for the party, because country comes first.

    Rotelco Saturday, 14 April 2018 09:01 PM

Constitution should be amended so that the elected president has to resign from the political party he belongs and cannot get involved in active political activity once he retires after two terms. On the other hand state should take care of him till his death.

Excellent suggestion. However, there can be a past presidents Forum where all past presidents can meet from time to time and advise the government on important matters.

Lord Wolfstein Sunday, 15 April 2018 10:31 AM

This is exactly how it is practiced in Germany. There, too, the president has no executive power.

First CBK gave problems when RW Government, and dissolved then government, Now MS is giving problems to RW cabinet though its Yahapalanaya,Why you'll waste time and money to appoint committee to study whether to continue this Yahapalanaya or not, very simple is each of you'll trying to build your own party than to develop this nation, enough is enough, people mandate was a common president, why can't support this government till its period is over.

    Samson Saturday, 14 April 2018 09:42 PM

All this government is capable is to have about 100 ministers and keep on appointing committees to advice at the expense of the poor. Why are they doing this to the poor who cant find two meals a day? About time the voters try and get some persons who are more intelligent than this lot on both sides of the house.

    GH Saturday, 14 April 2018 10:29 PM

SLFP is no more when grabbed from former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

    George Saturday, 14 April 2018 11:23 PM

Stop wasting our time by showing a dibersion/ issues in your party, which is not our problem anymore . Start working on the promises and finish grooming the country. Or both of you will have nothing accomplished in the history!

    Gune Saturday, 14 April 2018 11:28 PM

Sirisena is a waste of time. He is more worried about himself than the country.

    Labby Sunday, 15 April 2018 11:32 AM

Is the National Government the property of the SLFP?

    Machan Sunday, 15 April 2018 12:03 PM

When you have people without principles it is so hard to make a decision. So you need committee after committee to come to a decision but still you cant. Its like teenage girls deciding which dress to wear to the party. Lol.

Wise Donkey Sunday, 15 April 2018 02:57 PM

Now we understand why Mahind said 'Defeat is victory' the government is now disintegrating! Well said MR!

    R.KRISHNAN Sunday, 15 April 2018 03:28 PM

Will some honest strong person come forward to contestThe next Presdential election. The country needs a strongDedicated leader like Lee Kuan

    Saman Sunday, 15 April 2018 05:11 PM

I must say, MS and RW are experts when it comes to appointing useless commissions...

    asi Sunday, 15 April 2018 05:51 PM

Another committee will be appointed soon to review the findings of this committee

    Sambo Sunday, 15 April 2018 08:13 PM

Committees are appointed to decide the national governments and bla, bla. Since this government came into power it was only worried is safeguarding the parties and not the people who voted you to power. I am sure in 2020 you can all retire cause the people will not vote for you at least for another 20 years.
