Chilaw's Acting ASP was today arrested on charges of soliciting a bribe of Rs.200,000 from a woman who owns a Devalaya in Chilaw, Bribery Commission Director (Investigation) SSP Priyantha Chandrasiri said.
He said the police officer had allegedly solicited the bribe on the promise that the police would not disrupt the functioning of the Devalaya.
The suspect was arrested at the Devalaya premises while accepting Rs.190,000. (Sheain Fernandopulle and Jude Samantha)
