The charred remains of an unidentified person were discovered yesterday at Gonawewa in Dambulla, Police said.
They said the remains consisted of a part of the vertebral column and a few other bones and that their preliminary investigations had revealed that tires had been used to burn the body.
A spade and two empty bottles were also discovered by the police close to the place where the body had been burnt.
The Dambulla Police have informed the Magistrate’s court regarding this incident and the Dambulla Magistrate had carried out an inquiry at the crime scene.
Further investigations are being carried out by the police. (Kanchana Ariyadasa)
