Ajith Nivaard Cabraal who is an adviser to the current Finance Minister should resign from his post following the disclosures made in the forensic audit report on the bond scam, a UNP MP said today.
UNP MP Ajith P Perera told a media conference today that Mr. Cabraal should resign from his post because of the disclosures made by the forensic audit report that there had been irregularities pertaining to direct placements during the bond issues made between 2005 and 2015.
“There have been conflicts of interests as well as per the forensic audit report just like it has been after 2015 therefore it is questionable as to how Mr. Cabraal holds the present post,” Mr. Perera said.
Mr. Perera also questioned as to how Mr. Cabraal challenged the forensic audit even before it came out.
“Mr Cabraal said the forensic audit report was going to be a questionable one even before it came out. This is serious matter as it is questionable as to how he came to know what is stated in the forensic report,” the MP said.
The MP said President Gotabaya Rajapaksa should make a serious note of it and decide on the fate of Mr. Cabraal.
He also defended the forensic audit report stating that it has been prepared by worlds’ leading audit firms. (Yohan Perera)
