COVID-19: 480 cases in Colombo; highest within a day

The highest number of COVID-19 cases  within a 24-hour period in a district was reported in the Colombo District yesterday.

A total number of 843 cases were reported in the country yesterday and among them,  480 were from Colombo.   

Among the highest number of patients reported in Colombo were; 242 cases were within the Colombo Municipality area while 29 each from Mt. Lavinia and Wellampitiya areas.

Accordingly, the total number of patients from the COVID-19 second wave in Colombo alone stands at 22,853.

In addition, 86 cases were reported from the Gampaha District, 72 from Kalutara, 40 from Galle and 35 from the Kandy district.

Moreover, people with COVID-19 infection have been found in every other district.

    People, Please don't "panic". There is "no community spread" of COVID-19 in the country, and the "situation is under control!" Sri Lanka is placed second in global ranking in containing the virus effectively!!! Thank you.
