After heated arguments which lasted for days, the members of the Parliamentary Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE), yesterday, unanimously agreed on the wording of the report of the investigations it carried out -- which included the controversial bond issue.
A member of COPE, who did not wish to be named, said the report would be presented to Parliament by its chairman, Sunil Handunnetti on Friday, October 28, 2016.
The approval of the final report was delayed due to disagreementsa among the members over the bond issue; with the UNPers being accused of engaging in a cover up. This was repeatedly denied by the UNP members.
Earlier, it was expected that the members would come up with several conflicting reports because of the disagreements.
Sources said work on the translations of the report was going on till late -- keeping the parliamentary staff involved in it busy.

From the-said disagreements and delays in submitting the report, it clearly shows that the bond issue is debatable and no one could raise the finger at Central Bank officials directly accusing them of fraud other than suspicion of fraud. Hence, the intelligent readers will have to read the COPE Report with a fresh mind without their prejudice mind. If someone says CB officials had been involved in a fraud and made a loss of Billion Rupees to the public, they could go to the courts.

We all know that both the former Governor and his son-in-law are guilt as hell! It shows clearly the the son-in-law's company has made a profit of over 11 billion! If one party makes a profit the other part should have made a loss? We will see who has done an honest job in the cope!

That is the way it should be. They should argue , fight and finally come to a one decision. During the last regime COPE did not function at all. This is good trend under Yahapalanya government.
