A Brazilian national has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Negombo Magistrate on charges of smuggling 690 grams of cocaine into the country last year.
Police said the Customs officials at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) had arrested the suspect on February 16 last year for possession of cocaine.
He was later handed over to the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) and was sentenced to life imprisonment yesterday following a long hearing.

Not worth it. Probably fellows wanted to spent some nice time and have it himself. Should have released him with a fine. Bloody drug dot president, catch the real drug king pins and give capital punishment. Not some tourists!
