Six more people including Jackson Anthony's daughter Madhavee Wathsala Anthony have been arrested for attending the birthday party thrown at Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo on May 30 violating quarantine regulations, Police said.
Milan Silva, the husband of Madhavee Wathsala Anthony, Anarkali Akarsha (Chandimal Jayasinghe's niece) and Chandimal's mother were also among the arrested.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said that the police are searching for another person who is evading the arrest.
He said a total of 21 persons have been arrested over the incident so far.
Earlier, the police arrested event organiser Chandimal Jayasinghe and model Piumi Hansamali for organising the birthday party.
Fifteen persons arrested earlier have been sent for quarantine in Passara.
The spokesman said action would be taken to send the arrested six persons to a quarantine centre after being produced in the court today.
However, the investigation into the Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo, which allowed to hold the birthday celebration when island-wide travel restrictions were in place is conducted by the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD).(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)

Why not arrested these few immediately with others, wait until their names are called by others ? One country one law ?

It is a cruel world. While all poor people are suffering and starving, they are not allowed to have party. They did not even have a birthdaycake, Piumi said. My heart goes out to them :)

Very good demonstration by this government even no kindness to party supporters. If Ranil/Sajith were in power? It would be Malik's royal parties.

There is nothing to investigate with regards to Shangri-la,Clearly the hotel has violated quarantine regulations. Produce and impose a fine, Sugar dady has plenty of money earned through sugar and oil deals.
Joshua Friday, 04 June 2021 12:52 PM
maximum action should be taken against the hotel management. The Law should be served equally to all. We are watching.
Sam Friday, 04 June 2021 02:00 PM
Why not charge the hotel with criminal offence. The fine should be About $1 million plus.
