Since the Independence 70 years ago Sri Lanka has accomplished only two internationally known achievements. Sri Lankan cricket, always looking up to foreign cricket playing nations, was a loosing team until a nationalistic approach was adopted by a new captain in both tactics and attitude that paid off, wining the World Cup in 1986. Sri Lankan Armed forces trained and adviced by the British,Israelis, and Pakistanis were constantly loosing the battles against a small band of LTTE suicide terrorists, until there appeared a General who threw away the traditional western tactics and adopted his own homegrown methods and beat the LTTE comprehensively. The moral of the story is do not depend on other countries, instead use your own brain power and devolop the country. Help from Austria is not going to improve our police at all. What Sri Lankan Police need is to recruit young university graduates from good families in hundreds into ASP rank and make this rank the biggest among all ranks.

The Austrian police might learn a trick or two if they are smart.
