Kataragama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Chanaka Amila Rangana and two others were remanded till May 2 after they surrendered to Tissamaharama Magistrate’s Court today over the attack on Kataragama Police station on January 20.
A group of residents attacked the police station after an employee of the Pradeshiya Sabha was shot at for speeding by a policeman at a police post.
Police was searching for the PS Chairman over the attack based on CCTV footage. Four others were earlier arrested over the attack and remanded. (M.K. Nandasena)

They do it in the movies, the Sri Lankan police do it on the request of politicians. It is known as police encounters. The human rights activists will cry foul, but human rights are for humans. This is how chain snatchers are dealt with in India.
