State Minister Arundika Fernando today accused ASP Eric Perera and the opposition of circulating a video of the speech he made during the Wennapuwa District Development Council Meeting after omitting some parts of it.

Mr. Fernando said parts of his speech were circulated and shared on social media just to sling mud at him.

"What I said is that those persons in Wennappuwa who are engaged in illicit liquor business should be taught another trade. It has been a tradition of some persons in this area to engage in small scale liqour selling businesses," he said.

" I did write a letter to Minister of Public Security asking him to transfer ASP Eric Perera earlier this year but he was transferred following the receipt of other petitions from other parties," he added.(Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)
