Army intelligence officer arrested over Lasantha Wickrematunge’s murder

A warrant officer attached to the army intelligence service was arrested yesterday by the CID in connection with the investigations into the murder of journalist Lasantha Wickrematunge, Police said.

They said the officer was arrested on charges of having abducted and detained Lasantha Wickrematunge’s driver who drove Mr. Wickrematunge’s vehicle at the time of his murder.

The suspect is to be produced in the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court today.
