Application recalling for post of hangman

A decision has been taken to re-call applications for the post of executioner (hangman) in the Prison Department, Commissioner General of Prisons H. M. N. C. Dhanasinghe said.

He said the decision was taken due to the persons who were recruited for these post have vacated.

Candidates should pass the G.C.E. (O.L.) with two credit passes and not beyond the age of 45 years. The Commissioner General said it is re-considering the applications which were sent earlier.

He also said that a study is going on about the strength of the rope and as it has been imported from Pakistan 10 years ago and only the Welikada Prison has been arranged to implement the scaffold.(Indika Sri Aravinda)
