The OIC of the Anamaduwa Police Traffic Division has died in an accident last night, police said.
The OIC was traveling in a car with another police officer when he lost control and collided with the Anamaduwa clock tower last night.
The deceased has been identified as Ajith Hemantha Ratnayake (38), a resident of Nikaweratiya.
The other police officer was also injured in the accident and was admitted to the Anamaduwa Hospital.
The accident reportedly had taken place while chasing a vehicle transporting cattle.
