Highways and Higher Education Minister Lakshman Kiriella yesterday asked JVP MP Sunil Handunnetti to name the Minister accused of getting a luxury vehicle as inducement for awarding the contract to extend the southern expressway.
Mr. Handunnetti charged at a media conference the cost of the project had been overestimated because of commissions involved. He said there was the alleged involvement of inducement in terms of a luxury vehicle.
Mr. Kiriella said the cost increased because of extra viaducts that would be built to avoid floods.
“I ask Mr. Handunnetti to name the Minister using this vehicle,” he said. (Kelum Bandara)

That's a good one. Name and shame the Minister, if he or she is upto no good. Neportism and courruption must never be tolerated. At the same time if additional expenditure is because of additional VIADUCTS to mitigate the easy flow through of flood waters, Hoorah to the concerned Minister. He seems to be able to understand the science and engineering to ensure safe environment. Very good.

If there is adequate proof, our politicians should have the spine to mention names of those guilty rather than throwing ideas to the media. This is their fishy communication style, create doubt and suspicion and feel whiter than white about themselves.
