A janitorial worker at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) has been arrested with 17kg of gold worth more than Rs.220 million by the customs officers.

Accordingly, the janitor attempted to smuggle out the gold from the BIA through the disposal channel.

It is suspected that the gold was brought from Dubai and handed over to the airport janitorial worker by an unknown person or party to be smuggled out of the airport.(DSB)

Another "මැනික් මල්ල" drama. Come on let the poor person go with the gold. So was the "මැනික් මල්ල".

ACCORDING TO THE LATEST FASHION HE COULD HAVE SWOLEN THE GOLD BEFORE GETTING CAUGHT.

Who will arrest the custom officers who keep asking returning Sri Lankas to buy them alcohol bottles from duty free shops ?

If the Janitor has been arrested and it is clear that " a mystery person " handed it to the janitor us it so tough to find out who the actual smuggler was ? This like many other cases will be forgotten and it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out who has hoarded black money in Dubai

Dear Sir, could someone educate us as to what's happening with all these seized gold and other things at the airport. There were roomers that in 2015 when this valet was opened it was empty and everything in it was missing. Who were the culprits.
