The Attorney General today instructed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara to take legal action under the Penal Code against UNP MP and former state minister Vijayakala Maheswaran, who made controversial statement on resurgence of the LTTE.
A senior Police officer said the AG had instructed to take legal action according to the Section 120 of the Penal Code.
“No decision has been taken to arrest Ms. Maheswaran or to file a law suit against her as of now,” he added. (Tharindu Jayawardane)

Freedom of speech does not means to speak in support of terrorism

She did not speak in support of terrorism. Please don't twist her speech. Did you listen to it? She said if LTTE Is present discipline would have been maintained and women would be free to walk without being raped.

Definitely now the IGP will refer this back to Parliament and the PM for advise and the ball will change hands forever without any solution. In the end everyone lived happily ever after like in fairy tales. God bless my country !!!!

Actually this lady is coming under the purview of Speakerand the Parliamentary Select Committee not under the IGP.They must take appropriate action against her without just passing the ball one to another.

A very unpopular lady who will lose out at the next general election is deliberately been made as a saint to the Northern voters by the UNP government so that she will win again to add a seat for UNP in the North. What a strategy!!

This lady’s speech was taken out of context. She was lamenting the present plight of violence against girls or women in the North and not fondness for any militant groups. She became a widow at a very young age, whose husband was gunned down by the Tamil militants. would she be asking the perpetrators to surface again?
