AG files indictments against Hejaaz Hisbullha, Salim Khan at Puttalm HC

Attorney General (AG) has filed indictments on Attorney-at-Law Hejaaz Hisbullah and Principal of Al Suhariya Madrasa School, Puttlam Salim Khan Mohammed at the Puttlam High Court on charges of Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) and International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) Act.

AG’s Coordinator State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne said the indictments were filed against both the accused on five charges under the PTA and ICCPR Acts.

Accordingly, she said, the one charge that has been filed against Hisbullah under conspiracy which was mentioned at PTA.

“Within the period between August 1, 2018 and August 31, 2018 both the accused had mentored several extremist views to the students who were attached to Al Suhariya Madrasa School and this was seen as a conspiracy according to the PTA,” she said.(Yoshitha Perera)
