More than 970 families were resettled in Valikamam North today which was earlier declared a High Security Zone (HSZ) by the military due to its close proximity to the Palali Air Force Base.
The Sri Lanka Army had taken a decision to remove the High Security Zone in the region, therefore the original owners’ of land and houses located in the area were resettled today.
Minister Douglas Devananda and several other MPs were present at the resettlement ceremony. ( N. Parameswaran)
