Nearly one million persons have been affected in eleven districts across the country, as the situation in the Eastern, North and North Central Provinces is serious with the monsoon rains continuing, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said.

It said that a total of 139,391 persons (37,673 families) have been displaced and 430 temporary evacuation centers have been set up in 11 districts to assist those who have been displaced. 7 deaths and 2 missing persons were also reported.

Moreover, 895 houses were fully damaged and 6,787 houses were partially damaged due to floods and heavy rain.

Claiming that background of the damage situation due to flood is still unknown, the DMC added that  many areas are inaccessible. (Daily Mirror online)

This is devastating..... It been happening for the past few weeks and yet floods seem to continue with our people in the North Central and Eastern Provinces under major threat along with many places having land slides......

These are signs of a major danger to hit our lands.

At least now lets all realise and stop cheating each other.

Lets change our sour and selfish atttudes and think of the less fortunate and affected people and help them in what ever way we could.

After all we are SRI LANKA !!!!
