67 more intercepted off Wennappuwa

The Navy intercepted another boat-load of asylum seekers last night some eight nautical miles off Wennappuwa. The 67 on board included 13 Sinhalese and 54 Tamils. The boat was brought to the Mutwal fisheries harbour and those on board were handed over to the CID.

The asylum seekers are said to be from Colombo, Negombo, Wennappuwa, Jaffna, Ampara and Batticaloa.

Some 400 asylum seekers have been arrested this month but this figure could be higher if those preparing to go abroad illegally are taken into account. (Supun Dias)

This smuggling game is now almost seem another accepted business in SriLanka , What happens to the money collected in this manner ,?Are these Ruppees stacked in safe deposits or invested in property?
