A poultry farm in the Madurankuliya area was set on fire by an unidentified gang because of a personal dispute this morning, Mundalama police said. They said 600 fowls were burnt to death.

The poultry farm owner said this act of vandalism was done to take revenge after his goats had entered a block of land belonging to a area politician and had damaged his coconut nursery. (Pix and news by Hiran Priyankara Jayasinghe)

this is what happens when weird creatures who are part man part dog and part pig are given power.

    Silva Tuesday, 24 July 2012 04:13 AM

Try not to bring religion into everything bad that happens in this country. The poultry farmers , and the arsonists may well have been non Buddhists.

buffaloa citizen Tuesday, 24 July 2012 04:34 AM

This is what everyone wishes to happen, but actually never happens. Just see the war criminals, still grinning on TV and enjoying life to the fullest.

buffaloa citizen Tuesday, 24 July 2012 04:43 AM

You are right, but this is the New SL where criminality, dishonesty, arrogance and sheer impunity are ingrained from the top most person down to three wheel driver.

buffaloa citizen Tuesday, 24 July 2012 04:57 AM

Dhamma deepa? Who said this country was a Dhamma deepa? This is only by the criminals themselves. Actual fact this is a Karumay Deepa.

buffaloa citizen Tuesday, 24 July 2012 05:26 AM

Only by the new found patriots who listen to pirirth everyday, thereafter stand bogusly on the National Anthem, have to wear white to show they are pure and talk with concern and sweetly in public.

buffaloa citizen Tuesday, 24 July 2012 05:27 AM

This is the same question the UN is also quering on war crimes.

Game Over Tuesday, 24 July 2012 05:21 AM

Not the point. It is all about being Humane - there is a massive difference of being killed in one go as oppose to being burnt.

    heylosers Tuesday, 24 July 2012 05:15 AM

Remember what Gota said...No increasing violence in the island..none at all...

poor animals...what did they do to deserve this...

Daz Rogers Tuesday, 24 July 2012 12:35 AM

Idiotic cowards! What did the Fowls ever do to them. If you have a dispute with someone man up and face that person or go to the police. Don't take it out on innocent animals.

    Asitha Tuesday, 24 July 2012 05:41 AM

Hey my friend, Did you think as 'poor animal' when you eat their flesh?

mahinda wijesekara Monday, 23 July 2012 01:30 PM

Is this so called religious society ? Dharmadeepa?

    limatc Monday, 23 July 2012 01:51 PM

those who did the damage will see to it to their loved ones , then it is too late to cry and regret , fowls too are GOD's creation and they too are living beings , for the same of having anger with another person you cannot kill innocents living beings . sad to say that the loved ones of the person who killed and the person who organised to kill will face the same fate sooner or later .

Political Illiterate Monday, 23 July 2012 02:00 PM

Why no recourse to rule of law? If goats ate the nursery palms, which i believe is an accident and not deliberate action, make police entry and claim compensation. Why take law into your hands as in an uncivilised society? This is why you need proper leadership in all aspects and importantly in politics.

    Nodrog Monday, 23 July 2012 02:01 PM

Will this crime also skip Gota's statistics?

    nalakap Monday, 23 July 2012 02:12 PM
